Dr. Mohamed Attia Metwally is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with over two decades of experience in Orthopaedic Surgery.
He completed his MBBS from the Faculty of Medicine, Cairo Univeristy, a Master Degree and a PhD in Orthopaedic Surgery both from Cairo University, Egypt.
He is a member of the Egyptian Orthopaedic Association, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery, the AO Alumni Association and the Emirates Orthopaedic Association.
Dr. Attia started his career as an Orthopaedic surgery resident in Cairo University Hospital and then after a short stint as a orthopaedic surgery specialist in Cairo University Specialized Hospital in Egypt.
He garnered a lot of hands-on experience specializing in knee and shoulder sports injuries in Cairo university hospitals as he completed his Master’s degree and PhD in Orthopaedic Surgery.
He then relocated to the UAE where he has spent more than a decade, performing more than 1000 surgeries, establishing himself as a Consultant in Orthopaedic Surgery.
He first worked with the American Hospital then with Medcare Orthopaedic and Spine Hospital and the NMC Speciality and Royal Hospitals, all in Dubai. Emirates Hospital, Jumeirah. Subsequently, Dr. Attia joined medcare royal speciality hospital as a consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon.
Dr. Attia is passionate about performing adult joint reconstruction unique procedures such as total knee replacement, total hip replacement.
knee sports injuries including arthroscopic repair of meniscus injuries, anterior curciate ligament reconstruction, malalignment of the patella, and injury of the patellar and quadriceps tendons.
He has successfully managed arthroscopically, shoulder sports injuries including Rotator cuff tear, AC joint arthritis, recurrent shoulder dislocations and frozen shoulder.
He is proficient, deformity correction, limb lengthening, nonunion and malunions, leg length discrepancy, bone infection, and congenital problems which are treated with the Taylor Spatial Frame or classic Ilizarov techniques as well as lengthening nails along with classic bone grafting and plate techniques.
And performs foot procedures including hallux valgus correction, metatarsal fusion, flat foot and plantar fasciitis, hand surgeries for tendon and nerve release, metacarpal fusion, ganglion cysts and bone fracture fixation cases
Dr. Attia regularly attends conferences, keeps himself abreast of the latest advancements in his field and has published several articles including two mainscripts were published in British Medical Association Journal. Also been a faculty in several international conferences and workshops. He speaks Arabic and English.

- Management of fractures non-unions, malunion, and infections of the bone by performing bone transport technique using external fixators (Taylor Spatial frame)
